Rumor has it that SWA may purchase Frontier. Apparently, they think they have a buyer for Frontiers all 55 A320's and options. Rumor has it they would be able to divest all of the A320's by the end of 2009.

SWA is looking to grow at KDEN however they can. This sounds very reasonable with FRNT market cap only being $300 million or so. SWA makes that in a quarter.

Good rumor anyway.

Don't get butthurt. They would probably hire you.

Your thread title and post do not quite match up. Are you sure you don't work for the media?
Post your rumors as such next time please.

Sorry, I posted this 16 days early.

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day...

Bill, So far you've predicted SWA buying Frontier, AWA, Alaska, WestJet, Airtran, DAL's assets, and a UAL/CAL merger.

Don't quit your day job.

Good maybe I can get back in the Boeing. But I will NOT hold my breath for that one.

Willie's got some SWA stock he needs to move to pay the IRS...TC

How about these for rumors?

SWA is going to put Cargo doors on 5 or so of their oldest '300s and take advantage of the "lucrative" cargo market with the corresponding life saving fewer cycles. A large number of the other '300s are going to get reskinned and have winglets installed.

Frontier is going to merge with JetBlue, Airtran and Midwest in awesome fourway to fight off bigger rivals. (I just wanted to say fourway)

UPS is going to park their 727s and have a displacement bid (Oh wait, this one is really happening. Sorry newhires)

I guess Bill Nelson thinks we are back in the Gordon Gecko '80s. Companies taking over others just to sell the assets. Bill, you forget only the most dastardly of the worst did that sort of thing back when "greed was good".

You think the feel good SWA CEO and board would do such a thing? Good golly! You should've put USAir, UAL AA or DAL as the corporate raider. Then your story would have sold better.

Doesn't the government have to approve mergers in this industry? I bet they would have to approve such a transaction.

Why would we buy F9 just for the gates? We sure don't need another 600 pilots that don't have jets to fly.

We are getting our 5th gate in Denver next month with 3 to go this year. There is still talk of either taking the entire west wing of C or building a D concourse for us.

I've said it before. IF F9 would have stayed with the 737 I'd say it was a done deal. Not a chance we're buying them whether somebody buys the Bus or not.

Gup

Bill, no offense, I'm sure you're a nice guy. Please don't take this personally, but STFU. Your stupid rumors have littered this board again and again. Step back from the computer and get your chores done before Mom or Dad gets home.

Makes no sense...

I don't think SWA would buy anyone who did not already have 737s or who did not have a bunch of firm orders/delivery slots. AAI would make sense but not F9.

I am going to buy a Maker's and Diet.

I actually bought two. Now I am in for a Jack Danny as well. Boy I sure can derail a stoopid thread.

I am all powerful. Soon I will be invisible. After that, indivisible.

Enjoy.

I didn't know Frontier had any 320s. Only 319s and 318s. I could be wrong though.

Compliments of Wikipedia

On October 24, 1986, Continental Airlines, a Texas Air unit, bought both People Express and Frontier Airlines. They were merged into Continental on February 1, 1987 along with New York Air and all other Continental airline subsidiaries. Frontier's failure also doomed People Express, New York Air and four commuter carriers. It would take years to settle the pension disputes and lawsuits. Efforts were still being made in 2007 to settle ESOP accounts.

I was under the assumption that particular "Frontier" has nothing to do with the present one from what I read on WK....

You are correct. With our current stock price and fairly clean balance sheet it would be very easy for someone to buy us and sell our assets and make a tidy profit. Unfortunately our successorship language is about as useless as a scope clause. I'm shooting for a job as a porn flier hander-outer in Vegas.

Last quarter market cap = $225,256,050
vs.
Last quarter total equity (total assets $970,432,000 -total liabilities $741,656,000) = $228,776,000

So a purchase and sale executed to perfection would yield less than $3mil.

Not gonna happen.

Anyone who wants to buy us will also have to pay a premium above market cap or the shareholders aren't going to go for it. That having been said I think that control of A concourse, knocking one of the competitors out of Denver, and a good brand make us a good buy even at above market.

I'm hoping that if someone does buy us they don't just sell us off, but if it happens I won't be going to HomeDepot or Pizza Hut. I'll be turning Aluminum Weiner's mom out on Colfax and enjoying the fringe benefits ;)

We could make $3 million and get a new terminal. Sounds good to me.

Good luck on that my F9 brother... She past away last year. Looks like we'll be turnin you out at the ManHole in boys town ;@)

Why sorry? The ones I know are excited they're getting a window seat much sooner than they anticipated. Oh, and from what I heard, they all got their choice 1 or 2 in their displacement preference.
