Just so you know vja and ja are not attrative options in most cases for a first year pilot. In most cases EF DOT times second year pay will be more than 1.5 times first year pay. you have to do the math, but this is true in most cases.

correct me if i am wrong but with EF you don't have trip rigs so in some cases for a short turn it is better to get VJA'd for a 2nd year pilot just so you get 1.5 x's the rig?

MOT, DOT, and EF may or may not have rigs depending on how the pairing was generated. Original lines, VJA, and JA always have the rigs.

There is no such thing as 1.5 times the rig. For VJA and JA you get either 1.5 times whatever the straight trip pay is or the normal rigs (6.5, 5, .74, etc.); whichever pays more.

For a first year guy MOT/DOT/EF almost always pays more, hopefully by the time you're on your second year here you've figured all this out (or at least know who to ask about it).
