Hey SWA guys and gals...I was completing the SWA APP online and noticed that they never asked if I had ever busted a checkride. Reason I ask is because I busted my Commercial back in 1997...but found nowhere to put it on the online app. The closest thing to this was if I had ever received a letter from the FAA reguarding my certificate or any other action. Well...I never got a letter from the FAA...just a pink slip from an examiner...and a recheck the same day. I don't know if this is the place for it...or if they just don't ask. I put it on there anyways...just to CYA, full disclosure kind of thing...any thoughts?

Can't recall if there was a place on the form or not but putting it out there isn't a big issue. Be prepared to talk about & lessons learned...sounds like you've "overcome" & done well...tell the facts surround the situation, fess up to the mistakes & don't blame anyone else....talk about the recheck & how you have learned from those lessons learned, the hard way. Keep your head up & acknowledge you're a better pilot now. Always tell the truth is the overriding issue...hope that helps.

You are correct there is no place to put that on the app. and I would not place it on the application at all. If they dont asked dont tell at this time you want to get the interview then you can elaborate.
When you get a call for your interview they will have you flag your log books for any failed checkrides your type rides etc... When you have your interview you will definetly be asked if you have any failed check rides this is the time to mention this and show how its made you a better pilot.

No big whoop. Great time to tell a story how you screwed up and learned from it. Emphasize how you focused on your errors and improved yourself. Remember, it was your fault and you now see the light.

The logbook review guy will definately ask. He had a box to check on his interview form when I was their last month.

Well I failed my private and ATP so I wouldnt sweat it. If it doesnt ask then dont offer it up. If it comes up in the interview be straight and dont tride to hide it or make excusses for it.

thanks a bunch guys...this info definately helps. In that case I have another question. I have a traffic ticket on my record from a few years ago. The application asks if I have ever been convicted or plead guilty to a traffic or moving violation. To me, this means that this is the place to put down my wonderful speeding ticket...Do you guys agree? I don't know if I am over analyzing these questions...or offering info that is not asked for. I simply don't want to later on be told I never disclosed. I (along with many others) would love a chance at Southwest...but I never really found a true place to put down this info either. I was pulled over for doing 48 in a 35 in 2001. Is this another thing that comes up on the interview? Or is this the place to put it down...thanks a million guys...this is the last question I have on the application...promise

Yes, it asks for traffic convictions, a ticket is exactly that. I had two on there. It never came up in the interview. Disclose everything it asks for, be honest about the rest WHEN they ask you. Good luck.

KC81900, How in the world do you expect me to read the posts with an Avitar like that! Do you have her number?

KC,
I sure don't remember you asking if you could use that pic of my wife for your avatar? We thought you were just goofing around with that waterproof camera in the hot tub!
Cheers,
EZ
