Just curious why SW Management didn't intervene in the CSA and Ramp SLI like they did with the other groups?

My understanding is that both sides were represented by the same union (IAM District Lodge 142) . That union had an internal integration policy and the union leadership (at the national level) decided to use that policy to create an SLI. Per Bond-McCaskill, SWA management's hands were tied at that point. SWA management reportedly tried to steer the IAM into letting the external process of negoatiating and/or arbitration run it's course but IAM International decided to strictly apply it's internal integration policy.
Now SWA CSI-Ramp will have to decide if they want to keep said union on the property.

Wow you guys are really OFF BASE.....RAMP at SWA was TWU...... Airtran voted in IAM for both customer service and ramp. Agents at all locations were the given the option at FL to bid for either RAMP or customer service. TWU ( ramp, operations agents and PROVO) went to arbritaration with IAM ( ramp only agents) That arbritration resulted in a 2.5 year bump for SWA employees hired before the annoncement of the merger. SWA Customer Service has always been IAM. So with IAM voted in for FL Customer service it was up to the unions to decide seniority. Since IAM national has a merger policy the FL agents for FULL DATE of HIRE. Many stations are already intregrated others in a timely manner. At my station all the all the FL agents both ramp and customer service are coming together later this month. Thos that choose to bid the ramp will be doing ramp only. Those FL agents that were able to bid and hold customer service will be wearing Canyon Blue shirts and khaki shorts working the counter. FL did not have any ops agents so there is no one from FL coming to the operations dept. So there is no decideing on which union will stay on the property. RAMP, OPS agents and PROVO will be TWU and all Customer service Agents will be IAM.

Rumor out there, Herb escorted out from upper management meeting? in attendance was SWA and AirTran CEO's.

I think he was referring to the idea that the SWA gate agents won't want a repeat of that SLI... ever again... so they might oust IAM and go in-house like SWAPA to protect against a repeat of these results in future acquisitions/mergers.

People do funny things when they're pi$$ed off. Hence USAir/AWA going on a decade plus now...

Maybe he got Bob Jordans title confused at SWA he is Executive VP & CFO and over at FL he is President.

Reading all the ****************************** bag comments on SWAlife brought back flash backs from when SLI 1 was turned down. I keep for forgetting that I haven't done my time yet.

What I found humorous is that all those comments are moderated. Meaning that someone at Corporate looks at them and approves them before they are posted to read.

Last year when I heard they were going to change our pass policies to mirror SWA (limiting our significant others to just a few round-trips per year instead of unlimited like if we were married to them), I posted a comment saying please don't do that, change the SWA policy to mirror ours, which would benefit SWA employees and not penalize us. It never got posted. Yet they can spew anger and vitriol at us just fine, it gets left up for a few days while people have the opportunity to read it, then it gets pulled down because "it's not in the spirit of Southwest." Then how did it get posted to begin with?

That was the last time I logged into SWALife to do anything except list myself for a commute and check loads.

My favorite part from the email about the CSA SLI?

The Company would have preferred that your SLI process match the other Departments’ negotiated and arbitrated agreements. Up until the time a decision was made, the Company discussed with IAM the possibility of aligning its SLI decision with the other agreements already in place with other workgroups. However, per the federal law, it is not for Southwest to determine an outcome.

LOLOLOL REALLY??? So management formulating the entire SLI, the ratios, the no upgrade until 2015, all the critical portions of the SLI, then telling us we won't be integrated and eventually our airline will cease to exist if we don't sign it... that's not determining an outcome?

We just sat back and had a drink last night after reading that. Nothing else you can really do about it. All I can say is congratulations to the CSA agents, the one and only labor group to get a fair integration. Good for them.
