So today is the day for the -800 vote. How is it going to go? Does SWAPA sell out the pilot group again or do the pilots hold the line?

-800's at 185 seats plus or minus can be flown by the same two pilots with one -800 replacing two retiring -300's? And all done for the same pay!

Nice job SWAPA. But without a doubt age 65 is SWAPA greatest accomplishment.

I do wonder why you hate SWA so much.

I don't hate Southwest at all. But I voted No. The lack of a guarantee that it would be a 1-for-1 replacement was precisely why I voted that way. I'm ok with flying it for the same rate. I figure if it's good for SWA, it's good for me. But I wasn't willing to take a 1-year payfreeze with no job protection guarantee just for the privilege.

BTW, Southwest has 3 -800s from Virgin Blue sitting in Seattle as we speak. They're getting configured to our specs. This is why Gary shoved it down our throats in such a hurry.

Bob,

First. Please provide some evidence to your statement reference the Virgin Blue jets.

Second. You have way overestimated the strenght of SWAPA if you think they were responsible for age 65.

Kevin Fergeson (sp?). Flew with him a couple of weeks ago. He's the guy who wrote the rnp procedures. He bumped my captain for currency.

Secondly, I didn't say diddly about Age 65.

I do wonder why you hate SWA so much.

But he hates CAL even worse... I wonder what fairy tale, pie in the sky, ideal airline it is that he works for? Is he a pilot or a 13 yr old kid in Mom's basement lobbing out the flame bait.... either way, he's an idiot.

Sure hope we don't furlough after the fleet reduction since we didn't get any protection.

Gup

Voted No. I'm perplexed why everyone cares about the vote so much; the company can choose to order them at their will.

Yes SWAPA grossly mishandled age 65. I digress.

I understand your argument about voting no because there was no guarantee of a 1 for 1. But I'd like to ask you all, when has the company not ever done the right thing? (With the exception of the Bose headset deal, I still think that wasn't handled right)

SLC

Good Lord! How long have you been with this company? Don't get me wrong--it's a great place to work, but even at SWA business is still business and a contract is still a contract.

What would have been the outcome if they handled it well?

When it went out for pilot vote we had 2 choices. Do you recall the Alpa vote prior to that? That gave you several options to choose from. Swapa was grossly shortsighted.

There were many options to changing the retirement age. My point was the whole process was mishandled. I think we can all agree on that.

Moot point anyway
