Trying to figure out what to get---most say to get Purdy Neat luggage, but be sure to get the 13" wide because of the jump seat...then others say it's no big deal to get the larger 14" ones as long as you don't fill the side pockets! Just want to spend the $300 wisely! Any help is appreciated! Thanks guys!

Just wait until you get to training. don't buy a damn thing until then. Unless you can get a new liver. That would be good to have on hand.

I had the 14" from a previous job and haven't had a problem. It fits great in the -700, sometimes has to be wiggled in the 3/500s. I keep the side pockets mostly empty. It is no big deal for me.

Welcome to SWA.

Ya got dat right!!!!!

THEPRFCT10,

Try the Costco bag. $90 and a lifetime guarantee - just walk in and walk out with a new one.

Fits fine in both series aircraft and it fits with whatever other bag the other guy is using.

Hey, Two guys shouldn't be fittin' their bags together, so to speak. Just my opinion of course.

If you can find a samsonite hardsided (they don't make em anymore) it is the greatest. And way cheaper than the purdy gosh darn heavy POS.

My second choice would be the costco bag. The PNS bags are too much $$$$ and weight too many #####. Frankly they don't seem to wear that well either.

Now why would you want to go and f!*% up a perfectly good liver like that?

I can vouch for the Costco bag... at least from a durability standpoint. I just replaced one ~ no hassles. They keep your purchase info. on file for something like 2 years; otherwise I think you need a receipt, bag tag (UPC), or some other evidence that you purchased it there.

...The PNS bags are too much $$$$ ....

from the guy that uses old jepp envelopes as chart holders :)

J/K my man...hope LAS works out for ya!

StrongBags

Quite a few guys I know are buying the Vortex Crew Rollerbag from www.Strongbags.com

He is also a SWA guy. I've got one, and for the money, it is a great bag! I think they could sell the bag for more.

The bag's got 14", and no side pockets to rip, along with a great price. Why spend $270, when you can spend quite a bit less on a durable bag made by a SWA pilot specifically for the 737.

I also had the 14" PNS from a previous job, the only wear it has after almost 6 years is from jamming it into the -300/500 before I knew the "Lift the left edge" maneuver.

The side pockets got a little frayed from the bolt and the j/s frame. If someone had shown me the trick of getting it to fit earlier the bag would still be like new.

IMHO the only downside with the PNS is price, but hey it's a tax write off. I've been happy with mine so far.

I'd say avoid TravelPro, I had 2 of them previously, and they can't compare to PNS, especially considering they cost almost as much.

You get an airline doscount at http://www.luggageworksonline.com/

Good luck in the bag search and more importantly, WELCOME ABOARD!

Get the 13 inch. I've had the 14 inch for 6 years now, and the 737 is tearing the hell out of the side of it. I curse it everytime I slide it out, and you'll have a good chance of throwing your back-out trying to lift it over the bolt on the side that it's catching on.

Other than that, I think I'll get at least 10 more years out of it. Well worth the money!

I just bought a new 14" Purdy neat bag or whatever they are calling themselves these days. I took someones advice and ordered it without side pockets and only the little change pocket. It fits in -700's great and fits in 3/5's with a little wriggling. It carries more the the 13" even without the side pockets. So, in a nutshell, order the 14" but get them to leave all the side pockets off except for the change pocket and you will be fine.

Reading Bluestreaks entry, I bet he has side pockets. They are what catches and makes the bigger bag unworkable.

I have the 14" bag, but ordered it without the side pockets. Fits great in the 700, but just have to lift it over the jumpseat bolt in the back on the 300/500. No big deal and dosent snag on anything.

Bluestreaking your a wuss! j/k:D

Got to concur with this. I just made the switch from the PNT bag to the Costco bag and I'll never go back. SO much lighter!!

The downside is that there isn't quite as much room in the Costco bag as there was in my PNT.

the trick to getting the 14" under the j/s is to lift the left (aft) side to about a 30 degree angle as you're sliding in in. It'll clear the bolt then you can let it drop down flat.

get the 13, if your filling a 14, your a girl.
