I searched for this answer and couldn't find it.

If you line up on the runway and can only see three centerline stripes, what is the visibility?

Anybody?

Thanks

It's in the AIM somewhere. If I remember correctly the centerline stripes are 150ft long with 50ft gaps, so if you see 3 of 'em you have 600ft. Centerline lights are spaced at 50ft as well I believe.

well i didn't look too too hard, but i read somewhere that they are 180' in length with 20' spacing, but wasn't sure... thanks

Yeah, it could be that as well. I remember the line and the space being equal to 200ft, so I would go with whatever you found in the AIM. It has been awhile...

whatever the ATIS or tower says the visibility is....

If you don't see any centerline lights, you're in probably on the wrong runway!

Centerline stripe standards are 120 feet in length with 80 foot gap between stripes. Standard width varies depending on the runway classification. It's 36 inches for a precision instrument runway.
