I instructed in Sundowners for a few years. All in all a good, solid airplane, comparable to a Cherokee Archer, but a bit slower and roomier. It does want to porpoise on landing as I recall, and we had two students damage our aircraft this way. One had the main casting for the nosegear crack. Unfortunately the part was unavailable from Beechcraft and the plane was down for over a month. The final repair bill was pretty large, but I cant remember a figure. Sorry, but I odnt kow about wheelpants. I dont recall ever seeing one with them on, but its been a while since I've been around one too, so I may be wrong.
