Okay, so I've been to Sun N Fun 3 or 4 times now in warbirds of different varieties. Every year I say that I want to camp but there is no "warbird camping" area. Only "vintage aircraft camping". Everytime I taxi in the marshalers (sp?) send me wherever the hell they want me to go, which is always far away from where I can camp. If I take the T-28 this year I'll have to park on the pavement so my question is this: Where can I camp?

I just want to sit under a wing, enjoy a few barley pops and sit around with nothing to do but watch things happen around me.

While I'm on the subject. Anyone going this year? Want to arrive together? I'll be coming from the ATL area.

can't wait to impress the throngs at Sun n' fun

I am flying down from jax in my pacer this year. I hope to fly down with someone who has experience landing there during the festival. it looks a little intimidating.

can't wait to go though. the last 5 yrs. i have wanted to go, but had scheduling conflicts.

all I need is a stiff crosswind landing to "impress" the thousands with my taildragger landing roll "stability" technique.....

I call it the drunken monkey-others have said it resembles Rocky Balboa after 9 rounds with Clubber Lang......

Thanks, but I've emailed them just about every time I've gone and get worthless answers back. Volunteers.....you get what you pay for.

Smart a$$.

Gator, don't worry about the arrival. Understand the basic point of it and just fall in line. It all seems to work out. I haven't come in from over the lake in a couple of years, but it's amazing to see all those airplanes in the same place at the same time all trying to go in the same direction. Good times.

863-644-2431, A call would also help. Also you will need to be a member of Warbirds of America. If you CALL them you will get the help and the reservation you need to park there. There is really no camping in the area you are describing.

My advice, Find someone who has been, fly down in formation. Follow the lead.

Here is a an EAA chapter loctor:

The NATA; North American Trainer Association, is also a good source of information on arrivals and parking. They type clubs usually have a tent set up that allows adult beverages.

Finally not to be a smart ass, If you take it that way So Be It. This is probably not the best place to troll for information on anything important.

Fly safe

Thanks, round,
I've been to the event a number of times in a bunch of different types and mostly on the warbird south arrival. I'm familiar with getting in and around on the airport, but I've never been able to get a straight answer on where I can camp since I don't have an airplane that will park in VAC or GC. It just seems to be a confused subject. And the people answering emails don't have any answers nor the time/interest in hearing what my question really is. I'm sure they're innundated with questions, though, in their defense....sorta.
We here in the Warbird section don't call each other out too much anything. It seemed as if you were being a smart allick by, how did you put it, "going out on a limb". Sorry if I took it the wrong way. This is probaly the one place in F.I. where good info is almost always passed around with no turds in the sandbox. Enjoy it for that. Besides, there are only about 3 of us who post with any regularity, so it's a small sandbox, at that. We're all we've got!

You going to the show?

If I am off, yes. The wife has scheduled something at the beginning of the month so I am sort of at the mercy of crew scheduling and the power of seniority.

I live fairly close and usually drive instead of flying.

I have had some damage to my airplane by over-zealous observers and am heasitant about bringing it to an open flight line.

EAA Warbird has a phone directory in it, Anytime I need voice contact, I usually have a response in a few days.
