how is SCA doing? any pilot furloughed or airplanes parked?

Yep, I think around 37 people on "involuntary leave" that are going to be converted to furlough. (contractual semantics) They are going to be operating only 10 aircraft this winter. People furloughed told to expect around 18 to 24 months.

I spoke with a good friend of mine who is a pilot on furlough.. ahem "leave" at SCA. He confirmed the conversion of the "leave" to actual furlough. The biggest change for these guys will be the loss of benefits. i.e. health insurance.

A real shame. A lot of good people there, and a fine product to boot.

I live in MSP and the wife told me there was an article in the paper about Tom Petters' house and a business(not SCA or any of the affiliates)being raided by Federal agents(FBI, IRS, etal)Something to do with one of the financial offshoots of one of his businesses. Once again, evidently this didn't have anything to do with SCA, but interesting nonetheless.

Yeah crazy stuff. Talked to a couple SCA guys today... they're all Sgt. Shultz. "I know nothing, nothing."

Petters was quoted on the radio today as saying the raids and investigations were "unnecessary".

Sun Country Airlines employees learned today that their paychecks will be cut in half on Oct. 7 because the airline is suffering from a cash squeeze and will not be asking embattled owner Tom Petters for financial help.

From my limited experience, they have a great product and friendly employees.

My wife bought a ticket and I jumpseated. I was amazed they still give their "coach" passengers a hot sandwich.

Is SWA's move into MSP another attempt to kill off the weak, i.e. Denver and Frontier? I think they smell blood in the water again.
