Have a weekend trip to DAL coming up and my partner is disappearing to visit family so I'm looking for info. Anyone got some good ideas for killing time??? And before you even mention it, yes I am quite familiar with the local "Gentlemen's Clubs". Just looking for some thing else to do. Besides they're no fun when you go alone.

Thanks

DAL?

well, gee, you can hang out with the mexicans...cruise the highways...(seems popular).....go to the mall...(the galleria sure is fine..?)....kill some hours at the Bass Pro Shop?...hee haw!...eat BBQ?..

another time killer is the Book Depository downtown....at least an hour or two there..

any other ideas?

What are you into Rice? Uh...maybe I should rephrase that ;)

If you're into horses, western, etc., Fort Worth is the place to go. Plenty of art galleries/events typically going on at the Stock Yards. Grapevine also has some great little shops and is good for killing a few hours. There used to be a fantastic aviation art store there, but they've since closed and gone to internet sales.

There is an aviation museum of some sort (unless it's closed) over at FTW.

In Dallas, you have the book depository and museum for JFK. There used to be a great night spot there called The Alley if I remember correctly. I don't know if thats still around either, but they did have great clubs, comedy clubs, shops and live music.

Just across the road from Texas Jet is a wood aircraft model shop. Small showroom but they do some great work. If you have children, you need to go just east of FTW airport (I can get directions if you need them) to the Mattel (sp?) outlet store. Don't take your kids there cuz you'll never get them out.

The zoo on the south side of FTW is a good way to kill a few hours. If the Rangers are in town, a game is a good way to kill four hours (and lighten your wallet as well).

Over at American Airlines they have a pretty good museum on their history. You used to be able to go from there over to FTW ARTCC for a tour, but after 9/11 I don't know if they're doing that anymore. I think there is some sort of musuem over at DAL too. I don't get over there that often....more the FTW airport.

I'm sure there are some SWA folks surfing around that will have a lot more (and current) things going on around DAL. Have fun!

PS - Nothing kills 90-minutes better than a T-Bone and Shiner Bock :D

Definitley...

... BAR B QUE!!! Rodeo!!!

but one of my favorite past times is pulling up a bench downtown with a baguette and bottled water and watch the legs walking in and out of work. They breed the most beautiful women in the free world in Dallas!!
