I just flew over aia (alliance,ne) and picked upa a $hitload of ice

Hope the pilot will be okay.

With the wx at 200 over, don't know how it was going to get in. Went off radar procedure turn inbound for 12, 12 didn't even have lights, 30 has the nice lights according to the iap charts.

Yup,
It was a Sub-Air bird, the AIA newspaper has a picture.
I hope the pilot is ok.
From what I've been told, this is Sub-Air's second crash after a very, very, long time. Like almost 20 years.

Hope this guy makes it ..caravans + ice = bad...I must have heard 10 aircraft report icing between CPR and LNK yesterday

Is it just the picture or is that ice on the leading edge boot? Was it cold enough to keep it from thawing after the crash?

I would also be interested to know how the pilot is doing. I flew for SubAir over 10 years ago and they are a good company and have well maintained aircraft. In the time I was there, I never felt pressured in any way to complete a trip if I thought the weather was too bad. That's a rare thing in the freight business.

Spoke with a friend who flies w/ sub air. He said the pilot is doing better, but still has a long road. He didn't have much info beyond that.

circle to land

Heard from a friend that the aircraft was circling to land and got a little to low. Not sure if this is the case though. Anyhow hope the pilot is doing good!
