Posting about Southwest's Dallas billboard got me to thinking...who has nominations for [drumroll] The Dumbest Airline Slogan of all Time?

I know nobody at Eastern liked "we have to earn our wings every day." And Delta was just leaving themselves open to ridicule with "Delta is ready when you are."

Any others?

I always thought Delta's was

"Learning to Fly......And it Shows!!"

Hmm, weird.

This isn't the dumbest but it had to be the funniest - and most politically incorrect (and I saw it with my own eyes) on a Virgin-Atlantic jet. "Virgin - More Experience than the Name Suggests." What a company!

:D Nice!

Totally off the subject but funny anyway...speaking of virgins. I heard Robin Williams the other day explaining that "Islam teaches that if you kill an infidel, when you die you'll go to Heaven and receive seventy-seven virgins...and those of you who've been with one virgin are thinking, 'gee, I dunno...'" :D

Anyway, back to slogans...

Continental slogan

From years ago: "We Really Move Our Tails For You."

Also, some airline had one that said, "Fly Me to (destination)."

I doubt that NOW approved of either.

In college, one of my friends had a poster on his wall, perhaps you've seen it.

Two ducks in flight, positioned to begin the process of making little ducks, with the appropriate logo, and the words "Fly United".

Bobby, I reall that campaign in pre-feminist American advertising: "I'm Misty, Fly Me!"

Of course, that was back when they were stewardesses, not flight attendants, and they didn't remind me of Miss Saltmarsh, my third grade teacher.

:D

Unofficial slogan of former employer:

"We're not happy 'til you're not happy"

"We're not happy 'til you're not happy"

I thought that was the FAA's slogan.

This one used to be Delta back when I herd it but maybe we should change it to American now:

"American, comming to your street soon"

(From years ago: "We Really Move Our Tails For You.")

I guess if you apply that now to AMR its gets a whole new meaning now, how about ....

"American, we fly our tails off for you"

Some more American bashing I've herd in the last several years

Cali Mountain Goat
Little Rock Lawn Dart
Bradley Bush Hog
Chicago Flop
French Popcicle (eagle)

Disclamer: above not ment to start a war w/ AMR guys just stuff I've herd

Well I've heard your momma puts out! Not trying to start a war, just stuff I've heard....

Off the YoMama stuff...
The slogan I always liked best was Airtran's
"AirTran. It's someting else."

Kinda says it all there.

Unofficial NW Airlink slogan:

"If we don't get you there on time, your going to be late"

Unofficial AMR corporate slogan:

Ain't My Responsibility

At Great Lakes:

We used to bet that when United finally retired it's last 777, we'd still be haulin 19 pax at a time in the 'ole Beech 1900...

Our slogan was

"Great Lakes, flying yesterday's aircraft into tomorrow."

More Delta-bashing...

Delta... Now serving complimentary snacks during free-fall.

Delta... Flying through a microburst near you!

Delta... We never make the same mistake 3 times.

I used to have a whole list of these but I can't seem to find it. If anyone finds one on the net, please let me know.

Cheers,
Skyking
