How often do any of you study your manuals (systems, procedures, company regs) or FARs, Jeppessen intro section, etc. when not coming up for a PC? Once a week? Once a month? Once a year? Never? I've been trying to go through a section or two of different manuals each month to keep current on some things when I find myself questioning something in particular, to keep everything fresh. Just wondering if I'm alone with this or whether many people find themselves trying to study a lot in between trips (or when you fly with slam-clickers on trips).

I've been trying to keep up with this but it seems that laziness/exhaustion is creeping in...

I think that most pilots believe they don't study enough. At least I know that's how I feel. I don't study regularly, however something usually comes up during a trip that causes me to delve into the AOM, GOM, MEL, etc. either while preparing for or during the flight. Sometimes this piques my interest and I'll make time later to learn more about the system, reg, or procedure in question. I usually start studying pretty heavily 3-4 weeks prior to any recurrent event.

Ditto

That sounds about right for me too.

Except that I do go over the memory items for "Engine Fire" and "Engine Failure After V1" before the first flight of the day.

Condition Yellow. Always in Condition Yellow.

A lot of people suggest reading a chapter per week. I try to follow this with varying degrees of discipline.
