Going to school in Mississippi is hard enough if you from NY. The last week has sucked , my GF has left me for another guy from this state, she says she has more in common with him. I cant fin any fellow pilots to hang with . If there are any pilots in the Mem area who feel like this place is hell on earth send me an email , or respnd.

Every weekend you'll find me eating at Blues City Cafe, munching down on ribs, and then walking around Beale St. drinking some frosty BEvERages. Too bad MSU lost their game the other day... but my Gators tore apart San Jose.

Ole Miss 24 Dandy Vandy 21

Well at least you've got a good football team! Did you see'em "dominate" Vandy ;) ? Wouldn't get too heartbroken, I'm sure there are a few more girls around campus.
Nice pics FL000 but they're all sorority girls. Usually have to be a member of the country club to get in. Not unless things have changed over the last 20 years!

join the mil & fly away.

If I were your age and 'detached' and in the current state of world events and wanted to fly. Get signed up for rotc or OCS if you're already out of college. Go fly something real with guns and bombs on it. not one of these corp. trash hauling tubes or air-BUSES.

It's all fun but I sure regret not having had that experience.

Yeah, I understand. I was just killing time and having fun. Plus, townies don't usually post group pics on the web. Oxford is a haven though.

Thanks for the words

Thanks for the support! This board really shows that pilot's are part of a brother-hood, and that we look out for each other. I guess you know your really hooked on flying when you want to watch the NWA express340,and RJ land at Memphis.

nptguy,

Living in Cordova I really dont make it downtown much, but I usually know that almost every weekend there are some Mesaba guys out with some flight attendents down at Beale. The next time I hear of a big group meeting I will PM you.

Watch out it gets a little out of control sometimes.

Take it from a native "Miss'ippian;" you're better off without her. As many beautiful girls as there are in my home state, more than a handful are "Flat Earth Society" material. In most of their minds the entire world extends from Memphis to New Orleans, with a big river on the western boundary. The world stops over near Alabama somewhere on the east. Oh, and there is a distant far off land somewhere called "Florida." Don't expect her to find it on a map, though.

Oxford is a tres cool town, plenty of places to hang out and meet another gal. I know it's easy to concentrate on the negative but once your world starts returning to normal you might want to spend some time in City Grocery, Proud Larry's, the Gin, etc. The square can be a lot of fun.

As far as girls, yeah, the sorority types can be a bit tough to get to know but they ain't the only game in town. Plenty of nice, sweet girls runnin' around.

Sounds like you're gonna make some good connections in Memphis, too. Give it some time, you'll end up having fun.

Best of luck!

P.S. Once you get that private finished up there are fewer cool things than casually mentioning to a young lady that if she's interested you'd be willing to take her flying. If her hometown is nearby, say Batesville or New Albany, she'd probably get a thrill out of checking it out.

Npt, Man, sometimes I wish I went to a real school like you. Quit crying and take advantage of it while you got it...back to crying myself to sleep

Thanks Simon, I just might take you up on that. drop me an email and let me know whats going on. I'm not crying over spilt milk, it was very hard to meet this girl we were together a long time, but as this campus goes it's very hard to think about 1 girl. Walking from my class I see about 30 girls that I'd like to bag and tag.

Only 30?? That must be a pretty short walk!

Yeah...just be glad you're not stuck at GAy Tech. It would take your whole freshman year to find 30, and the majority of them wouldn't be students there.

wow, I think I would be more dangerous with this

Lots of Girls

Than I would in the right seat of a 172 :D :D Hard to imagine.

Thanks for pointing that out to me, FL000

Ole Miss has some of the best looking girls in the country, and that's coming from a guy who went to school in Athens. Here's a small sampling of what's available in Oxford:

I would rather overnight there than in any city in Florida any day of the week. Hands down and would have no regrets. Those Southern girlies are complete "hottie" and that sexy twang is also a plus..:D

Much better $ight$-

keep your chin up, I wish I was there..

Athens has a really good restaurant, a short walk from the holiday inn. Can't remember the name. Cross the street, walk about 2 blocks. Diverse menu, good wine list.

Nice town, friendly girls.

Harry Bissett's??

As a graduate of Ole Miss and resident of Oxford I can say there is no other place I would want to live and I have lived all over. I recently moved back...Even though I have to commute, it is a wonderful place to live. Don't take for granted the the wonderful SEC football you get to see 6 to 7 times a year.
