If the steel handle on the PNT bags recessed flat with the top of the bag so it could fit in some of the other overheads (door won't close with the handle), they'd have a better product.
Unfortunately, the latch mechanism is still aluminum, so after a while of pulling the bag up steps by the handle, it bends the latch mechanics (or outright breaks it), then I have to replace the latch.
Telescope handles ARE more moving parts, but if they're built to withstand being pulled UP stairs or curbs better, then it might be a better handle.
I tried a Travelpro once... the wheels and balance aren't anywhere NEAR as good as a PNT / Wingman bag. There's something about that design that, when you have your kitbag on the back, it's almost EFFORTLESS to make the thing roll, just bend it forward and you can keep the balance and movement with two fingers. The Travelpros never did that.
I like the one top side pocket for my car keys and pocket change (I don't like crap in my pockets). I also will look for one with a padded laptop case built into the back and a big enough front pocket to store my legal pad so I can stop dragging my PNT laptop bag around.
For $200 for a laptop bag, I was HIGHLY disappointed at the way it straps onto the bag. It destroys the balance for rolling it and, if you don't have your kitbag on the back for the laptop bag to rest on, you can't leave the suitcase standing upright, the laptop bag doesn't touch the ground and will pull the suitcase over backwards.
