So a couple of days ago, was on my way to Florida at FL350.

Strange object appears out the window, obviously we both perk up, wondering what the heck it could be.

As we go cruising by, it is about a 1000 feet below and appears to be lighter than air and drifting with the wind. It truly looked like a upright pole with smaller ballons tied all along the lenght. As for size, would be hard to tell, but it was not small.

Now I has on occasion seen kids ballons at lower altitudes and wx ballons at high altitude, but this did not look like anything I have ever seen.

Queried ATC, but he showed nothing on radar, neither did TCAS show anything.

Any ideas?

Where in Florida were you? Because near Cedar Key (I think thats the airport, I don't have a sectional on me, its about 100 miles north of Tampa, about 10 miles inland you see a round prohibited area) there is a radar balloon, but I was only aware that it went to 15,000 ft.

Jealous?

How did you know, although, those ballons would probably require a visit to the doctor!

I have seen something similar before, but at a much lower altitude and in a different part of the country. Turned out to be a string of helium filled balloons that escaped a party or celebration of some sort. I think it was even about this time of year. Could it have been one of those balloon arches that got loose that you see at graduations, parties, sales, etc?

Dammit

I was so hoping this would be a chemtrail update.
