In the crew room today in ORD and Jerry walked in for an hour visit. Here are some things he had to say.

-He said it doesn't really matter to SKW either way if the XJT buyout goes through eventually.
-If the buyout does happen, it wont necessarily lead to "growth" like many speculate.
-CAL has a great relationship with SKW and may be using the buyout as a scare tactic because XJT operates at higher costs which burdens CAL.
-Said he thinks very highly of XJT, but there branded flying looks bleek, their cost structure is way to high, and SKW will see some CAL flying in the near future.
-He said SKW has a lot of cash in bank.
-SKW will hire soon, but it will be very slow to start with.
-No new airplanes for now, but SKW is in a great position if things come up.
-Other codeshares are a real possibility.

Had to go fly so that's what I got out of it in the time I was there. I don't drink the kool-aid here very often, but what I can say is that I was thoroughly, and completely impressed with the guy, and what he had to say.

Ok, I'll prepared to get ripped by everyone now. (like I really care though)

I had to leave, but I'm sure it was brought up. He was getting hit with every question in the book.

For years, I have heard Jerry say that very same thing concerning other matters. He said that exact same thing about the ALPA vote. I'm sure he cares about all these matters and was glad ALPA was voted down and I'm sure he would really want to have XJT in the Skywest family.

If he said this, he is ether lying or dumb! Let me get this straight. The CEO of a billion dollar company, that is involved in a buyout of another large company. Thinks he ordering Chinese!
hmmm...I'm bored today, maybe I will have XJT, kung pow or fried rice!

I hope that everything works out well at Skywest as I have a few friends there. However, be very wary when listening to someone in charge of an airline. Their job is to spin things much like any politician. Even after a meeting there's simply no concrete promises and tomorrow they can and will do whatever they choose regardless of what words they spoke before.

The SEC watches very closely. And they don't take anything said lightly. Look at the Bear Stearns debacle. One short-seller is getting reamed by the SEC over "rumors" that he started and apparently had an effect over the stock. Mr. Atkin is very very astute. He really didn't say anything if you look at what kj posted.

I wasn't there, but perhaps he meant it didn't matter to SkyWest Airlines as opposed to SkyWest Inc.

Impressive that a CEO showed their face in a crew room...and answered questions...granted said things "safely"...but still mingled amongst the crowd...

Has that happened anywhere else?

Yes, JO comes in the Mesa crew lounge and tells us how much he cares about the pilots. He does it almost every other week.

Phil Trenary and Clive Seal made a crew room visit in DTW today. This must be "National care about your employees day"

Ford & Harrison must have put out a bulletin this week.

Thats probably EXACTLY what he meant. SkyWest AIRLINES has nothing to gain or lose from an ExpressJet buyout. SkyWest, INC. does.

a collective IQ of less than 100. It's too bad Phil didn't have another stroke like the last time he came up here.

I heard that they said the pilots aren't agreeing to a contract because they are "bitter". Would have loved to have been there.
