I was wondering if anyone else who flies thru ATL with Comair or ASA has had anything stolen out of your crew bags?? On my last trip I had thru ATL my captian and I had money stolen out of our crew bags. After reporting it we find out it has been happening latley and people have had cameras, mp3 players stolen right out of thier crew bags roller bags as they sit in the cargo compartment. If you fly thru ATL soon be careful and keep expensive items with you in the cockpit..

I find it hard to believe that ATL rampers would do such a thing. They are an honest, hardworking, eager to please lot. ;)

Form talking to my friends at ASA...you guys have your hands full with ramp ops in ATL. May the force be with you!

As a ramper in ATL I would rather that the Comair pilots concentrate more on fallowing correct DCI taxi signals by the rampers, than blaming rampers for lost items. While I’m venting about Comair, do you guys really need your taxi/landing lights on when taxiing between B and C. If you haven’t noticed EVERYONE else seems to turn them off when entering the ramp area. And PLEASE if you see ground crew pushing an airplane back DON’T F#$KING TAXI up right behind them(believe it or not this is a major cause for delays).

hey you know you're right...I missed that ramp direction last time through...what does"sitting on your a$$ " mean?

Lay off, y'all. It's them CARGO GREMLINS!

Gordon24 and PA44,

Please post the date and location of your meeting. I'd love to watch this one. ;)

ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!

Let's see...I waited 30 mins for you morons to park us, another 30 mins for the valet bags, and yet another 30 mins for a wheelchair.

Consider yourself lucky then, you caught them on a good day.

I've been flying out of ATL for over three years and never had a problem with theft. It's a shame that stuff has been stolen out of crew bags. Maybe I haven't been targeted because I fly the ATR and am not considered to make the " Big Bucks " the jet-guys do (...joking). My suggestion is to lock up your gear or take it with you if it's a problem, or put it in the lounge.

On another note, the Comair guys seem to be a good bunch with the exception of a few whiners who don't understand or choose to ignore the dynamics of the ATL system. DCI, not the rampers, have attempted to put 5 lbs of crap in a 2 lb bag. Blame Fred Butthead or the folks on Virginia Ave for the wait, not the rampers. I am not defending laziness or apathy on the ramp, but some guys are busting their a$$ to get the job done and just don't have the help or equip they need. As an ATR guy, I have loaded and unloaded many a airplane and wing walked and so on, just to get the job done. The ATR takes a lot of ground support, so it consumes a lot of resources on the ground that the RJ does not with an operable APU. It sucks to wait, but do it for three years or more, then complain about it in the lounge. CVG folks were absolutely stellar when we took the ATR up there last winter, but when we did have a problem we didn't tell the folks up there how much their operation sucked. We were just glad to be somewhere besides ATL for a change. Just be courteous and folks will be more accomodating.

Not in ATL, but I had ALL of the change stolen from the side pocket of my roller bag somewhere between CVG and GRR while traveling on Comair. Hope the poor bastard had a Merry Christmas...

I always put the fours days worth of dirty skivvies and wet PT gear in the outside pockets of my bag. Never had a problem with theft but one time I thought I heard a scream from back in cargo.

Good Theft Deterrent there Caveman!!!!:D ;)

Heard there was a pretty good fight between a couple of rampies over there a few months ago.

Can anyone confirm? I heard about it on an ops freq while I was sitting in the airplane at Mercury.( Or whatever the he!! it's called).

Certainly not meant to defend the ramp operations at ATL, which having been a former AirTran pilot, I can attest to it being among the worst I have ever run across in my 25 years of airline flying, but theft of items from cargo holds is certainly not limited to ATL.

Enough said about that.

Sorry if I came on a little pissed, but the simple fact is that the ramp is TO UNDERSTAFFED!

You probably waited for a spot, remember that if you are told to park at “C32” and you see a spot right next to C32, it might be in another zone. And therefore the reampers that you see “sitting on their A$$” might not be able to park you in that zone. The ASA guys seems to understand that you can only fit so many airplanes in one spot( but then again they have cognitive testing during the interview).

Valet bags, if we have two or more aircraft arrive at the same time. Then we have to park the airplanes fist. Again we’re understaffed!

As far as wheelchairs go, that’s not ASA rampers it’s a contract service. You need to call ahead and still plan on waiting for them. They are so bad that DELTA has several lawsuits against them right now because they have made many people with disabilities wait so long.

Disclaimer: I understand that some of the rampers could not care less about the company or on time performance. But there are a lot of us who really do give a crap! And that will bust are ass to get you what you need. Just remember that a little respect goes a long way. And again sorry if I came across to pissed!

This is the REAL problem with our ramp services, that y'all are limited to certain zones. The managers or supervisors responsible for this asinine policy need to change it. It is frustrating as hell seeing sufficient rampers doing nothing 20 feet from our plane, yet we sit out there 10 minutes because it's "not their zone." There shouldn't be any zones. If a plane needs to be parked, park it. It smacks of the fast food worker who says, "that's not MY job!"

Management keeps calling us a team, but there's little or no "team" work.

It’s not the “ it ant my job” crap, we (at the ramp level) cannot make a gate change. It would throw off the whole rest of the day if an airplane were parked prematurely at another gate or zone, not to mention that bags would be lost in the change. This would snow ball into a nightmare (this has been tried a before and it just passes the delay on to the next flight and so on). What really needs to happen is a major change in ramp operations. My beef lies with the attitude that’s the rampers fault. We can only do so much with what we have.

PS Comair, please turn off your F#$KING landing lights when entering the ramp, if we can’t see then we can’t park you.
