1) Mathis hasn't been working for Air Tahoma for almost 3 months now. Last reported location was with Air Cargo Carriers flying Shorts again out of Milwaukee.
2) We have a prelim from the NTSB on what caused the crash, but the NTSB will make that information public when they're ready. The wreckage is in the old DHL hangar at CVG being put back together so they can find out some more information. It's probably going to be a month or so before we hear anything solid. Right now though it looks like a typical crash - a combination of human factors and mechanical failure, where, had any single failure of human or machine not occured, we wouldn't have had an accident.
I heard the Air Tahoma Chief Pilot allegedly tried to get SM in trouble because he's all bent over the fact SM left for another job. Is that true? Great way to treat your former employees. Anybody see what happened at the hub last night? Poor guy!
Sounds like the ATI CP called the CVG PO-PO on him and got him detained for no good reason. Embarrassed the heck out of him...right in front of all of his fellow pilots.
I flew with him when he was my student and instructed him through his instrument phase. A good 'ol boy if I ever saw one. Let me know how to get a hold of him. Miss the guy,
Well it appears to me that old Stevo is getting a bit famous. Reminds me of another famous Capt. Capt. DICK PEACOCK!! Maybe some day soon I will start hearing STEVE MATHIS over various radios. Hey steve if you read this send me a P.M.
In closing I would like to say just one more thing...
Steve is a good friend of mine as well. I sent him a link to this post so hopefully he'll be able to contact those individuals trying to find him. Sounds like GRR has become BRRRRR already.
I just met Steve Mathis at a party once in Columbus and he was cool. He was headed to Indonesia to fly some Fedex routes. I don't know if he'd remember me for sure, but I've sure heard a lot about him.
Yeah. He's been quite busy for ACC as of late. He seems to be quite happy and adjusting nicely to his new home at GRR. I owe him two things:
1. A thanks for letting me jumpseat on one of his flights.
2. A punch in the face for getting me hooked on flying.
Just kidding. Steve's a great person. Hopefully our paths will cross again as I really enjoyed that trip we took. Oh yeah "Dick Peacock". I finally learned what that means!
See what I get for not looking at flightinfo for a while! I'm just glad somebody out there thinks about me(and doesn't want to get my fired or arrested! Neither of which ever will happen!). Besides that life is well without Air Tahomaless...
All I will say about them or the now popular CVG incident is I will be laughing when there is no room for Convairs after the DHL hub merger. Poor RW's precious MEM run will be over, and I don't think his wet dream of going to the FAA will come true. Guess he'll just have to keep on after me, something he never has been good at.
Anybody willing to bet how many Convairs DHL will need after the hub merger?!? My bet is on zero... Oh well, i'm glad i'm not buying three more airplanes....
I also heard through the grapevine that CW got the shaft.... just goes to show nomatter how much company kool-aid you drink it can't keep you safe from the Bud! Sad part is I got that turd hired, did I screw up there!
Oh s**t, now i've done it, i'm shure the CVG skycops will be down to harass me about using the copyrighted name kool-aid on an internet message board
I remember that .. That was a good night.. not many places where you can piss on an atm get seen by the cops in the act wipe it up with your shirt get a new shirt from your buddy and still be on the best dressed list at Muff Divers..
Anybody for a good drinking spell at Vascos Gigallos and the Blue Rock tonight???
Vascos oh how I miss that place.. What a place to start a good couple days of fun in the sun..
