Im a 2nd year FO for Air Wisconsin. I live in Indy. I dont want to commute to PHILLY or DCA. Would it be a bad move to work for CHQ and hope for a base 5 min from my house? or should I wait out Air Wisconsin.

Do you have an interview or job offer? If not ask again when you do.....If you do go for it, I would say it might not be a bad idea....

There is an Air Wis guy in our class at CHQ(S5) now. He felt the same way you did. He lives in Chi-town as well.

Good Luck!

You answered your own question. You said you don't want to commute.

I realize a lot of people are bailing on AirWis, but you have to realize that every regional has their growth cycles.

I compare airlines to girlfriends. You can go around spending a year or two with a girlfriend until another, better girlfriend who seems to be offering more comes along. So you break up and get together with the new girlfriend. Then another comes along, and you repeat the pattern. This keeps happening.

Then you get older, and you realize you want to settle down. You wish you had stayed with your first girlfriend... because you realize you would have had several years to build a relationship with her... buy now you could even be married.

It's corny, but it's true. A great airline today is a $hit airline the next year. Eagle used to be THE PLACE to be... now look at it. ASA used to have tremendous growth with upgrade on CRJ going 1.5 years. Now it is stagnant. CHQ is getting some good growth right now but IT WILL END. and when it does, you better hope you are not on the tail end of it... because your original position at AirWis would be looking better and better.

But like I said before, you answered your own question. I think people who are both not willing to move, and not willing to commute, will have a very hard time in this industry... especially at the regional level where bases don't seem that stable (just ask DEN based Airwis guys, or PHL based CHQ guys, or MESA based CLT guys, or DFW based ASA guys, etc.)

Could that be the funniest Freudian slip I've heard in a while? This cracks me up......not exactly rocket scientists in this job, eh?

By the way, dont go to Chautauqua!!!
