State Department Contract
Hi there. I know the contract went to a company in Florida...the name of which escapes me right now, but as soon as I remember I will let you know. If you want to do the research, it is the same company that got the California CDF Fire contract. AS for the flying, being from Colombia myself, I will let you know that it is not a good place to fly counter drug ops even with a sidearm unless you have US or Colombian Special Forces working with you. You basically become what they call a contractor..ie mercenary pilot in their eyes, and last time a C208 was shot down, 2 of the crew were executed on the spot, the other 3 are still captive. Since it is the US Government policy not to negotiate with terror groups, those guys are there in Colombia languishing in the jungle. Pay is not that great for the risk. Can't spend it too well down there either since (I'm assuming you're American) you don't want to go out in public to spend it. It is a gorgeous country with great people. Food is great and they are easy going and like to take life easy. But your name will be known to everybody as well as what you do at work. Hey...if you want to do it, then do it. But think it thoroughly before commiting.
