Would like to get some input on the following; failed a guy a while ago for landing unspooled (line check), flare and touchdown was fine, aircraft was an A320 with automation in, I was being observed by FAA. To people that are familiar with the A320, was this a valid reason to repeat the check considering the rest of the ride was just fine?
Thanks for your opinions in advance.

doesn't sound like it to me if the rest of the ride was fine. From a hard-and-fast standpoint, it's not a stabilized approach if you're not spooled by, what, 500'? But I think that in the sim you've got to cut a little slack if everything else was fine, it's not just like flying the real thing. Some are worse than others as we all know, but especially at the end of the ride if the atmosphere is light and it's time for hotel land(or home), let the guy get it on the ground, maybe debrief a stabilized appr. and we're done here.
