!st class med?-enough already!

OK, this is really starting to pi$$ me off. Seems like I'm seeing more and more 135 or 91 job minimums listing 1st class medical as a requirement. What's up with this? Not only do we have to have a wallet full of expensive FAA ratings that may or may not be required, but now we're supposed to pay doctors big bucks every 6 months just so these companies can say in their yearly shareholder report "All our pilots meet airline requirements?"
The latest one I saw wanted 1st class med for a King Air 200 part 91 FO gig! Gimme a break!

I wish I hadn't deleted it...

But I got one via NBAA air mail yesterday that specified "must have a 1st class medical for the past 6 years with no lapses". I forgot the specifics of the job, though. May have been for a Gulfstream.

Anyone else have it so you can prove i'm not insane?

I always have a first class

I continually hold a first class for a few different reasons:

--I have applications out there that require one.

--My resume says I hold one.

--I want to upgrade but I don't want to have to buy another examination when I do.

--And even if I don't upgrade in six months I'll just hang onto it for another six and then get another 1st Class and keep hoping to upgrade and keep getting a 1st Class and keep hoping...........

As far as 135 ops go, if you're a multi-engine PIC of a scheduled passenger flight then you're required to have an ATP and a 1st class medical.

But maybe you already knew that. Good luck.
