Just got off the phone with a senior Captain at Spirit and he said they would be hiring 85, with classes of 15 every other month.
In case anyones' interested.

Any idea if Spirit will replace its MD80s any time soon? What are the latest rumors about replacement aircraft?

spirit

I like to know the f/o's pay for 5 years, when can one expect to upgrade and third do the md-80 have a combination of efis and analog or is it just steam gauges. Lastly, what is the growth potential and aircraft deliveries for spirit.

What is the address fax phone and contact!
Thanks

The January 2004 issue of AirTransport World includes two page writeup on NK; the author, Sandra Arnoult obviously spent some time with Dr. Schorr. In the article, whe reports that Spirit is looking at 737NG and A320 families and may make a decision by 2005. (emphasis mine)

For what it's worth, we all believe that Airbus is the winner; but, as I wrote earlier, we have yet to see a new aircraft bid. Neither do we appear to have any of the training department in Airbus school.

Don't get me wrong, the rumors are flying and we are all wishing upon a star for the long promised expansion. It's just hard to get overly excited about the new aircraft, the carrot has been dangling too long.

Unofficially the word is that spirit has secured 150 Mil for expansion and another undisclosed amount for new aircraft. This info comes from the Check airmen meating they just had. The owners seem to be split with Ned wanting Boeing and Kahan and one other wanting airbus. Another new thing they talked about was some kind of 100 seat plane for short hops that typically only sell 90-100 seats. I talked with DTW chief pilot that said hiring will probably continue but is going to high time guys that will live out there last 10 years or so at spirit. WORD
