How come Spirit prices are so high compared to Air Tran and SWA?
Last year when I took my grandkids to FLA, it was Spirit by far, like $59 one way, this year they want $189. SWA is $102, and Air Tran in $95, about the same as last year. Could this be because of the new contract? I guess I am drving to FNT and flying Air Tran.

I took Spirit with 2 hours notice MCO to O'hare (I think that was the Chicago airport that I landed at, well it's better than the pilot not knowing where he landed at) it was only $189 round trip. On the return trip I opted for the $45ish first class upgrade. I liked that airline, too bad they don't fly much anywhere else that I have to do.

YIP, you claim to have friends at NK. I doubt it. If you did you would know that our new contract is a wash. We got a twenty percent raise only if you figure pay under the old work rules. the work rule concessions we made just about cancel out the pay raise.

Are you sure you aren't the Publisher in disguise, or do you just dislike pilots?

enigma

BTW, most of the old freight dogs I fly with made significantly more working for USAJet, Kalitta, etc, than they make at Spirit.

what else has changed?

I don't think I attacked any pilots, I love hangin out with my pilot buddies. I share a drink with some of my NK buddies on an irregular basis, they voice concerns about future cut backs. I just ask a simple question about how come your fares are not competitive with the carriers you were beating last year, the only difference is the contract that I can see, you got out of DC-9 business, and laid off in Feb. I perfer to fly NK because I will normally find someone in the cockpit I know and it is a great airline, you guys are great about the jumpseat. But to pay an extra $500 to take my grandkids to FLA, I have to go someplace else or drive. And no I am not the publisher I think he/she can speel
