Hey Brick Top,
I was in a similar situation in that I have interest in working with Spirit however I do not have any internal references going to bat for me. I decided to ride the jump so I can talk to the crews and better gauge the operation and see if it would be right for me. I highly recommend you do the same...
However, Do not expect to find anyone offering to walk your stuff in for you. A reference is generally reserved for people who can vouch for both you both as a pilot and an individual. It was worthwhile, however to talk to the people who work at Spirit and get some first-hand info instead of going off what you read on the internet. Everyone I have met has been extremely pleasant and helpful.
**Side note, has anyone been called for an interview in the past couple of weeks? The info I have gathered indicated that it takes about a month from the time you fill out the second, "big application" to get an offer to interview. However, myself and a few co-workers filled out the second packet back in December and are still waiting, fingers crossed! Do we have reason to hope for a phone call or does it look like we might have been passed over for whatever reason. Thanks and sorry for the thread drift...
