If I understand it correctly, Indigo, who has a controlling interest in Spirit, is also closely alligned with Texas Pacific Group (who are behind the NWA/Midwest deal). Am I right? If so, what do you all think of the possibility of a future merger/buyout with Spirit being the target of Northwest? It appears to be a possibility considering:
1)Closure/Scaling down of Spirit's Detroit Base
2)Common Fleet type
3)Former NWA execs and training people already in place at Spirit
4)A Spirit route structure that has a stronghold in the Caribbean/Central America where NWA has nada
5)Probably wouldn't be a problem convincing Spirit's "shareholders" (I know they haven't gone public yet) to go along with the deal..

Any thoughts?

Northwest has their alliances with Delta and Continental. Go to the NWA website and you can book a ticket to almost anywhere Spirit flys or plans to fly.

Yes, you're right there-- just checked myself. But it seems like the proverbial ducks are lining up in a row with the other mentioned stuff, from the outside looking in at least. Just wanted to get the opinion of a possible Spirit/NWA combination from you Spirit guys and gals.

Word is that Spirit is tightening the belt with company wide layoffs in virtually all departments. 2 Dispatchers are getting it, not sure about others. Those cheap fares must not be enought to pay Marty Harrison's big salary. Good luck to all.

I keep wondering how much more they can squeeze out of the system? It feels like we are nearing critical mass with the ensuing implosion not far behind.
