Because he was good at what he did. He knew airline operations inside and out, and he's largely responsible for why AirTran was such a success. Without Kolski making AirTran what it was, you wouldn't be wearing that SWA uniform today, because the company wouldn't have been worth anything to SWA. Credit also goes to people like Forklift Joe and JM, but Kolski really was the operational mind behind the whole thing.
