for D/FW-Cancun route

Spirit Airlines, which will begin service from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., in January, has applied for government permission to fly to Cancun, Mexico, from D/FW, the carrier said Tuesday.

Spirit, based in Miramar, Fla., said it is the best-positioned low-cost carrier for the route.

Yes, it's true--they filed with the DOT on 9/27. They also filed for Chicago-Cancun.
