The fact is that speed limits (especially on highways) have little to do with safety,...Someone driving 80 instead of the posted limit of 65 is not going to get somebody killed.

I know a lot of cops and road engineers who'd disagree with you on that. And on a more person note, it's that mentality that breaks the line on control of the vehicle. Someone with your thinking darn near killed me in an accident by losing control of their vehicle. Leave on time, drive safely and you won't have to worry about the cops "picking on you".

How about the rule against wife battering

Mmmmm...I like mine with the Colonel's 11 herbs and spices. Crunchy too. It's a secret recipe, so don't ask.

By the way...since you guys are lecturing about good and evil and all that moral stuff...you should know that there is no RULE on wife battering. (don't get mad at me...both the submachinegun club and the skydiving club I belong to, have no rules in the club charters on wife battering).

States have STATUATES. The FEDS have the CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS. Towns and counties have ORDINANCES and MUNICIPAL CODES. Clubs have rules. Maybe there is a club somewhere that has a rule on wife battering. My club doesn't.

Hey, while we're discussing rules and laws and such and how to obey them properly, I have a question for the moral majority crowd here pertaining to the CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS.

Guy A possesses an NFA TITLE I Colt AR15. It is stock from the gun store with a 20 Inch barrel. He also goes to the gun show and buys a 7.5 Inch, barreled upper reciever assembly that fits the Colt and it is of the same caliber as his AR15. He just puts it in his closet for future reference...not assembling it on his AR15. Just storing it.

Guy B next door, possesses a similar NFA TITLE I Colt AR15 with 20 inch barrel. He also has in his closet a 7.5 Inch barrel, upper reciever assembly that is the same caliber as the Colt AR15. Guy B also possesses a BATF registered NFA TITLE II "LIGHTNING LINK", a device that instantly turns any AR15 into a fully automatic rifle or "MACHINE GUN" if you will. This 7.5 Inch barrel, upper reciever assembly is also not assembled to the rifle, just stored in the closet.

The only difference between Guy A and B, is the fact that B has the BATF registered "LIGHTENING LINK" in his possession at home.

So here is the question. Lets just say for one reason or another, a little old neighbor lady calls in a complaint of some kind of NATURAL GAS leak in the neighbor hood...the local cops come over and forcibly enter the two dwellings under the premise of "EXEGENCY" to look for the gas leak. Guy A and Guy B are at work when this happens and they just happend to have their gun stash seen by the cops...who in turn contact the BATF Technical Branch and those fed guys come out and look at the situation. Also assume that the finding of the guns and upper recievers is ruled as a legal search and seizure by a Federal Judge.

Is Guy A going to FEDERAL PRISON, or is GUY B?

Who is within the CFR's here and who isn't? Both in violation? Neither in violation? Come on, CFR experts.

WrightAvia,

Do you actually believe some of the drivel you write? Laws exist about assualt and BATTERY. You have never heard of BATTERED WIFE SYNDROME? Yeah, Yeah, KFC. Real good, kinda what I might say in Junior High School

What in the heck went wrong with you in your youth to blow the attitude you do. It is not normal. Were you dropped on your head as a baby in the hospital?

If not, maybe you are just a slow developer, and take longer to reach adult status than most. You truly are perplexing.

Yes, I fully expect your "cute" and inane response, but I will let it go, without a counter "jab".

Good luck....you really need it.

hahahaha...you guys wanted some action.

The question is real, by the way. I have posted it on a machinegun bulletin board also. When the CFR experts give an answer, I'll post that link. But I already know who is going to prison.

Why should I have to leave 10 minutes early just because the government sets unreasonable speed restrictions?
Wrong attitude, my friend. Speed limits are part of life. It is spelled r-e-s-p-o-n-s-i-b-i-l-i-t-y.

The fact is that speed limits (especially on highways) have little to do with safety, and much to do with politics and money. Someone driving 80 instead of the posted limit of 65 is not going to get somebody killed.

The rationale behind setting speed limits is irrelevant and immaterial. Speed limits are set for a reason. I do not understand why some speed limits are set where they are where I live. Just the same, I follow them because it is the law, not to mention a safety issue.

In your opinion speed restrictions may be unreasonable, but who are you to decide which laws that you will follow and which that you will ignore? With that kind of attitude you are a hazard to others as well as to yourself.

After you make Captain, are you going to decide which FARs you will follow with a planeload of pax and which you will ignore?

If you don't like your local speed limits, write your Congressman. In the meantime, you still have to observe the law. And, as a practical matter, you need to keep your driving record clean because H.R. at your next airline will get it and read it. H.R. regards the breaking driving laws as tantamount to busting the FARs. Just think about it.
