This method worked for me last year down in Cincinnati, OH.
Go to court and see if the cops show up (they usually won't and the judge will schedule a hearing date for within the next 30 days). If the cops are not there, ask to speak to the duty prosecutor. Explain to him/her that you're a pilot and that in this day and age it's detrimental to your career....blah blah blah.... and that the punishment in this particular case would FAR outweight the crime. Explain to him that you have a good driving record and rather than waste tax payers dollars in getting all the parties involved (the cop who wrote the ticket, the pilot, the guy holding the stopwatch and whoever else) would he consider reducing the ticket to a non moving violation and you'll plead guilty to it today.
It worked like a charm....my insurance didn't go up, the fine was the same, it shows up on my drivers record as a non-moving violation which goes away in a year, I got no points and the county is happy as they still collect your $$$ to buy more donuts with.
I'd thought about going through all the mess of proving all the inaccuracies of the system but lets face it, they issue a traffic ticket every 7 seconds in the USA, so it's been tried and tried again. Yeah, I still had to pay the fine but I got the driving record fixed. $125 to save a possibly embarrasing question on an interview.....priceless!
