Does anybody know how the 10,000 lb tail cone they put on the shuttle in Kalifornia gets back to Edwards after the ferry flight?

Rail, air, ground?

UPS?

Do they also keep spare tail cones at all the alternate landing sites?

I know of two other alternates, Clinton-Sherman (CSM) in OK and Easter Island. Anybody know of any others?

Did anybody tell you how cool it looks and how cool you are for spelling California with a "K".

Man, you ARE cool. (I mean "Kool")

They probably load the tail cone on the next C-5A training flight headed out that way. It's not like they're flying around full!

Oh, and the correct name of the state is the People's Republic of Kalifornia.

I had this same exact question yesterday when I was looking at a photo of them mating it to the shuttle and realizing what a monster that thing is!

Kalifornia in reference to one of my favorite bands, the "Red Hot Chilli Peppers". If you took it for anything else, well, I don't give a ****.

Thanks for the link to the alt landing sites.

I could have sworn CSM, ex Naval Air Station/SAC base was an alternate. \\Does anybody know if Lajes Field in the Azores is Easter Island? I was watching a program today on Easter Island and they said the runway was built just for the space shuttle.
