USFS: Boat loads of King Airs, Turbo DC-3s, Twin Otters, Ce550

Cheers,

I've heard USFS is pretty political, true? Also, I'm 53. Too old for these guys?

YES, the USFS is very political. There was recently a job listing for one of their DHC-6 jump planes. The requirements for the job included "you must have a minimum of 200 hours of government operated DHC-6 time!" Now where do you get that kind of time without getting this kind of job.

Anyway, sorry about the tangent, but I wasn't sure if you had a background in any type of government flying in the past.

And most of the guys that I've seen flying the DC-3s and the Twin Otters are 45+.

I would imagine that Idaho Power is a good company if the guy has been there since 93?And Conarga has lears right?

Max hiring age is 40 for USFS/BLM. The previous guy can still fly for contractors though.

There are some DHC-6s operated under contract to USFS, so that would probably count as that time. But maybe they wrote it that tight because they already had someone they wanted to hire.

Bureaucrats are trying to move BLM national office from Boise to DC, not very smart either.

Its not very easy to get on with USFS or BLM at all, but still trying :)

Wish there was an operation like the old Harrah's.

Twatter flyin' into the Middle Fork lodge, Robertson 206s, and a DC-9 and Falcon for long distance stuff.
I guess there's a reason it went away...

Death

Yes there is. The old man passed on many years ago.

McCall Air: Ce560 (still looking for a pilot or two - it's a new jet for them)
Just curious: When did they get a Citation? I spend about 5 months out of the year in McCall and haven't seen it on the ramp yet. I'll be up there next weekend so I'll have to look for it.

Personally, I think there's going to be a lot more corporate stuff around Boise in the coming years.

I heard about it for the first time 3 weeks ago. It showed up in BOI last Saturday and this is where it will be based. McCall doesn't own it though. The story I heard was that there were a group of 8 different owners who had a Lear 35 with Conyan and sold it in favor of this 560. Conyan couldn't get the numbers to work, so the owners started looking around to get someone to lease it. And that is just what McCall did, and that's why it has to be based at BOI.

Probably also because I doubt there are any instrument approaches to McCall, or if there are, most likely a RNAV with high minimums. Not a good place to scud run. Not that I haven't. (and scared the crap outa myself...)
Lots of aluminum in those hills, some from friends of mine.

I know this is a Corporate board, but have you thought about any of the Supp carriers. A bunch of them are home based and they airline you too and from your home airport. No stress of commuting. The flight cancels, is full, or diverts? No worries... Anyways, Focus (start-up 74-200 out of FLL) is hiring and finally running classes. Southern looks like they'll need another class late summer or fall (especially if guys keep bailing). Evergreen is hiring -200 pilots. Anyways, just an idea if you want to not commute, but don't mind travelling a bit still...
