I jumpseat between STL and MKE every once in awhile. The average load on Skywest is around 8. Not really going to fill up a 737/717?

If thats the case then maybe they should drop the route! And then you'll have to find another way to get from STL to MKE.

How much money do you think it will cost to cancel the agreement with Skywest? Just curious...when Republic bought Frontier, United was claiming they couldn't cancel agreement with Shuttle America because it would cost a fortune.

The agreement between SkyWest and Airtran had language in it that allowed either SkyWest or Airtran to end the contract with, I think, 90 days notice. That was mentioned in the memos to SkyWest crews from our management when the flying started. If it didn't work or was unprofitable, it was a way for either entity to cancel the contract. I think the 90 days is being respected, so it probably won't cost Southwest a dime.
