Oh, I know that many have to commute, it was just the wording that we saw when the contract was completed. Essentially, what we were told was that SWA pilots get first right of refusal to the jumpseat regardless of whether it was personal or company time they were on.

I've never had an issue with it, especially with two in the cockpit and the 4th available, but it was more of the "pilots have priority, regardless of the circumstances" way it came across.

The priority for pilots was in the old FOM, and is still in the Ops Binder. Putting it in the contract was a way to keep that priority from changing. I wouldn't want that priority to change because as a commuter I've seen to many F/As not able to get home due to them not having priority on the 4th.
