1-866-359-7967 Sometimes you can be on hold for a long time. If you can not list just list at the gate and if the CSA gives you attitudejust explain you tried to list but it was a long long hold time.

I agree. I'd just go to the gait and tell them you were on hold 20 minutes and had to hang up.

Reminder, first come first serve for off-line jumpseaters. Most aircraft have 2 jumpseats, just a few (less than 10 I think) have a single jumpseat.

Seniority is not a factor for offline jumpseaters. USAir pilots out of PIT and PHL commuting have found themselves being left behind when trying to use seniority to go before those who signed up earlier than the more senior pilot.

Can check in no more than 1 hr prior for jumpseat; for seat in the back, it can be longer.

SWA takes multiple jumpseaters as long as there are seats.

Calling in is preferred as stated but don't delay getting to the gate first and asking forgiveness for checking in.

Most ops agents are good; if you get an attitude our apologies in advance. Let the captain know.

I commuted on Southwest to work for some 7 years and had very few problems. Some days I was treated better by SWA than by my own airline!! Not sure if the "IVR" automated line is still in use but I used that so as to always be listed when I showed up at the gate. As Chase said -- get there early to make sure you are top of the off line list. All that time in the jumpseat and in the back and now I'm a poolie about to dry off. So Chase -- how does it work for SWA pilots ?? Can you reserve the JS or is it a seniority thing as well ?? I'll be commuting to the west coast so I better get spooled up on the JS again.

Thanks...mt2

SWA pilots do not reserve jumpseat, but the CSA's do appreciate it if you list for it. As a SWA pilot you can list for flights on SWALIFE. Even for SWA pilots it is 1st come 1st served, no seniority. A SWA pilot can bump any SWA non-pilot employee from the JS, except for Must Rides.

Something that all of us SWA dxers were left scratching our heads as to how that worked out. Were hordes of pilots getting bumped by dispatchers out of the jumpseats?

Our contract is being negotiated currently. Maybe we can get something sweet like that put in ours.

Not meant to be spiteful or arrogant but about 2500 pilots commute to work every week. We depend on the jumpseat. You'll find if you ask that most of us will not bump ANYONE out of the seat if we aren't going to/from work.
