I admit to being a synical crusty old..... must admit watching this piece on the tube made me very very proud of the place that I made a career. We are NOT perfect and we ARE a business that must make business decisions that labor may not like. That being said, it has been a terrific ride for many years and I look forward to the future.

BUS (not to be confused with the knockoff of me "Skybus")

Under the surface of the 'feel good' spot was what, in my opinion, makes this place run ... and run well.

SWA hires good people and then trains them to do the the job SWA's way.

It helps one's disposition (read happiness factor) when you are well compensated and equally well respected.

Having 20 years in the airline business, it's been my experience SWA is something truly special. Our biggest threat is not fuel prices, assigned seating or RJs ... it's the possible erosion of what Herb, Colleen (soon to retire) and Gary call the Golden Rule. As soon as we forget we have two equally important customers at SWA (our passengers and fellow employees) we risk experiencing the same turmoil our market competitors have endured.

Some of us grey hair pilots know what it's like to live under the 'other cultures' and do our very best to prevent a repeat showing at SWA.

I know some employees at Northwest that would like to give their CEO a bear hug.........with a real bear.

Oh.... I thought he was talking about the payCUT when the current contract expired last year.

Gup ;)
