Medora ( www.medorand.com ) has a lot of family stuff to do if there are kids. It's in the SW on the S side of the Roosevelt Natl Park (S Unit). KDIK would probably be the best airport. Lake Sakakewea in the center of the State has lots of places to fish and waterski. There's a giant cow somewhere on I-94 between Bismarck and Dickinson. On Hwy 85 south of Amidon, there's an old stove with the door open. The sign says "open range". Lots of rodeos and county fairs all over the State. Abandoned missile silos in the NE and N Central part. Devils Lake is nice.

What can I say, ND was never billed as an ultimate tourist destination. It is what you make it and I've always liked ND.

Got a PM about Medora and the TRNP. I think that'll do it so we're covered.

Thanks to all for advice.

International Peace Gardens

Another suggestion for your employer would be this place. http://www.peacegarden.com/ Nearest landing strips are Dunseith (S28, 3000ft strip), Rolla (06D, 4300ft), and Bottineau (D09, 3700ft). If you are looking for better amenities and/or rental cars, then Devils Lake or Minot are within a half day's drive of the Peace Gardens.

Peace Gardens and the Turtle Mountains (what would elsewhere be called hills, but hey its North Dakota! Hehe) are beautiful at this time of year. I also recommend Medora for the family. They have a highly touted wild west dinner show in the evenings there during summer. This is the area where President Theodore Roosevelt had his cattle ranch, so that is the local claim to fame.

Have fun, and try not to drink too much beer with the locals. They do it just to see if they can drink you under the table.

Until a couple of years ago, I had never been to SD, ND, and AK. When I finally went ot ND for a family wedding, a local gave me a description relative to its flatness. "Your dog can run away and you can still see him two days later."

How true. I used to tell passengers that if you stood on a tuna can in Fargo, you could just see the beginning of Montana!

Wunnerful, Wunnerful!!!
