God help your instructors, you're going to go through a lot of them.

Go to the airport and sit in your airplane and learn where every switch and dohickee is with your eyes closed.

Bring your weather book too and read it.

I feel sorry for your CFI's

now why would you say that?

God help students if you are a CFI, people like you who take offense to questions should be assamed of themselves...

Squale,

The reason I couldn't speak with you yesterday was because I was on the way to the airport, and yes the winds were certainly too much for a first ride. Actually, it was too rough for an IR student as well. :) It was my first flight in about a month and we went up to do some holding patterns. The entire ride going up to the VOR was rough , and after bumping our heads 2 or 3 times within a matter of seconds after we entered the hold, we decided to turn tail back to CDW, shoot the localizer approach, and called it a day. The shear on final was probably the worst I had flown in with airspeed fluctuations of about 10-15 kts.

But enough of that. I spoke with Alan and he told me that you came in on Sunday. As I thought he is totally booked up so I heard that you'll be flying with Warren. Give me a call and we'll chat some more. I agree with the others that you don't want to overwhelm yourself so early with too much information. Start on the weather gradually and as TB suggested, start watching the Weather Channel. The Jepp Manual will take you through the subject areas in such a way that things tie together nicely.
