Don't let the General see this list, it might make him cry. His good buddy GG told the General that he didn't like RJ's on long routes. Looks like his friend betrayed him again.

ugh...BOS-JAX on an RJ? cruel & unusual punishment...

That's nothing. We do MSP-JAX, MSP-TUS, MSP-ELP, etc... I really do feel sorry for the pax on those flights. Grinstein is right, it's miserable to be a passenger on an RJ on any flight over an hour and a half.

I'm not disagreeing with you... I hate flying more than an hour on a 50 seater.. BUT.. If GG hates them so much, why on earth is he allowing these new routes with this aircraft?

XJT does IAH-BOI, IAH-BFL, IAH-PIT, EWR-OKC, CLE-DEN... A bunch of CLE-Florida.

but I do think the back of an ERJ is a little more comfortable than a CRJ-200 (never been in a 700 so I cant comment)

Those routes are thankfully in the 70 seater which is a little more comfortable than the 50 seater. But SkyWest is doing SLC-MSP again in the 50 which easily pushes 3 hours especially going westbound. That is too long to sit in a 50 seater if it is full. Oh well, it still beats driving.

someone please explain how the CR7 is more comfortable than the CRJ. according to both delta.com and seatguru.com, they both have 17.5" width and 31" pitch. maybe it's the 20 extra passengers; misery does love company.

the windows were were raised 4 inches and the floor was lowered one inch. i'm in heaven!

You think they could fill a mad dog or even a 73-200 on these routes? I sure doubt it, therefore a fifty seat jet with an operating cost of around $800 per hour (3 person crew and 2200lbs of fuel per hour @ $2 per gal.) makes sense. I know there are no landing fees and mx cost in there but whatever they are they are less than the previously mentioned aircraft types.

Sinca,

Kind of my point exactly.. GG doesn't hate the RJ nearly as much as GG or GL would like us to think.

Call me crazy but the back of a 737 sucks just as bad. Was in a 735 EWR-IAH last week and it was excrutiating.

I agree, I'd rather be in a ERJ than a 737, in the ERJ at least you know you won't be stuck in the middle of two people.

I fly on the CRJs all the time.. I also fly on the 757 all the time. I would rather be in an RJ any day of the week than the middle seat of a 757.

RJs suck for more than an hour... So does everything else (coach).

True dat, when I jum on the 75 I ask the CA if he doesn't mind if I ride upfront, it's way more comfortable than the back, and we get first class crew meals!!

Its the lavatory on the CRJ. If you want to punch-a-grumpy you need a little SPACE.

Seriously...

The CRJ seats have very little padding (even the fancy new leather ones.) The ceiling is too low. The overhead compartments are too small. The lavatory is made so that only circus performers can comfortably use them. There is not adequate room between you and the seat in front of you to put your laptop on the tray-table.

If Comair puts E-170s on the long haul stuff, adds a snack and beverage service, (dare we dream?) XM radio or other inflight entertainment, and in-seat laptop power I think they'd have a heck of a good product.

Interestingly since I've switched from airline PILOT to airline CONSUMER I find myself booking travel on Northwest's comfortable DC9 out of my home airport when cost is equal. (on the 2 seat side of the aisle of course)

But i've always been a Douglas kinda' guy. I do miss the ol' girl.

Aside from the obvious lack of first class seating, there are as many passengers who prefer the RJ as those who prefer a mainline jet. The no middle seats may be a marketing focus point, but it really does matter to those who have been wedged in a 737/757/MD80 middle seat.
The seat padding is a major disadvantage, though, as someone pointed out.

We have plenty of ERJ long-haul at XJT. I've been doing a few 3:00+ flights. Next month, have a flight blocked 3:55 (MLM-LAX), and this month have one blocked just a tad shy of that (IAH-YYZ).

SkyWest's CRJ-700s have 6 first class (business class) seats. The lav on SkyWest's -700s are the larger type which are much roomier than the -200s. The economy seats are a different design than the -200 too. After saying all of that it sucks being on anything longer than an hour unless you're in business class. I flew the -200 today from ORD to Austin back and those were two long flights. My favorite is nonreving in business class on the 777. Now that is comfort.
