Remember, most people think that all we as pilots do is push buttons, so why do we need all the experience? The sad thing, only in situations like this do pilots "earn" their salaries, until that time comes we are over paid bus driving primadonnas!!!
 
It helps to have five pilots in the cockpit like they did at the time. I would say that was some pretty good CRM.
 
The 380 has a very different hydraulic system than the 320. The 380 has 2 redundant hydraulic circuits, and several flight-control specific circuits driven by their own electrical pumps.

Airbus did indeed learn the lesson of UA 232.
