I came up with this list a while back when I was instructing. I had written it down and lost it, but found it last night. Only past and present instructors can truly appreciate! I think it must have been a real slow day at the airport....

-INVESTMENT/FINANCIAL TERMS FOR FLIGHT INSTRUCTORS-

Mutual Fund - The change that you and your fellow instructors gather to buy the last Moon Pie in the vending machine.

Margin Call - When you call Flight Service and they tell you visibility is 3-5 miles.

Stock Option - When a new C-172 is delivered with the fuzzy seat covers.

Blue Chip - The potato chip you find under the couch in the FBO……and you eat it.

Preferred Stock - You think it's men's cologne…..but it doesn't matter, you can’t afford that either.

Inflation - Having to go out and pump up the collapsed nose strut on the C-152.

IRA - You think it's the new identifier for Indiantown Regional Airport.

Bond - What you call the dried up gum that is holding down that piece of plastic on the 152 panel that kept popping up.

Certificate of Deposit -You think it's that little slip the bank teller gives you after depositing your $200 paycheck.

Rollover - You think it's that thing you tried last weekend in the C-152 when the tail almost fell off.

401k - You think it's the latest Mooney model.

Savings Account - ?

I loved flight instructing but unfortunately had to stop.........

I couldn't afford the gas to get to the airport.

A pretty sad commentary when I wound up making more $ as an attendant at a self-serve Texaco during college.

Instructing was some fun times, even though at the time it always didn't seem that way.
