Well, I dug around my collection of plane photos that I have gathered throughout the past, and picked out what I think are some of the most breathtaking ones. Some you may have seen before here, some may be copyrighted... this is just my private collection. I have long forgotten where any of them came from. If I step on any toes, I offer my apologies.

Anyway, amid all the furloughs, bad weather, bad aviation climate in general, PFT wars ;), etc... (not that I have experienced any of those... yet) I thought I'd try to lighten everyone's mood up a bit for the next several minutes. :) Without further ado...

P.S. Can anyone tell me what those small flare-like things in between the main flares on that Hornet pictures are? My first thought was photo artifacts, but I don' think that's it.

I had to add a few of those to my personal collection. Great photos! Any idea what the 727 in #12 was doing? was that a doctored pic?

Man, you almost made me cry. Some of those were exactly the reason I went into aviation for, instead I'm sitting down here looking up instead of up there looking down.
Beuatiful pictures.

I think they are just a reflection of the flares off of the canopy of the aircraft taking the picture. The flares are ignited by squibbs in the dispenser and there isn't any ignitor that falls away with the flare that would be visible. Cheers...

flare...flare.....FLARE!

those are reflections off the internal glass focal plane segments of the camera lens itself.
