They whent on strike and even had the audacity(dont know how to spell it)
to turn the runway lights off when I believe a twin engine was on final.
There is some terrible sh.t going on down there and I am tired as hell to listen to those news. The good thing they whent to jail but bailed out in 30 hours or so.

I personaly listen to it last time I think it was in 1999 thrue my radio scanner and it was some hell of a dillema, I would say like a novel but because I was not flying or else I would have being so pissed off.
Anyone here fly to MGGT?

I fly to Guatemala City all the time. That happens at least once or twice a year.

Just happened about a couple of months ago. Was this more recent than that?

Well it was in january but I dont think it happens once a year however its really dumb and I dont know why they just dont get some new ppl , anyways u say you fly to guatemala , where do u work and what plane do you arrive in? Im curious cause there was a time when I never got my ear away from la aurora frequencies I even slept with my radio on, when was this and what airline or job do u have? :)

I can assure it happens quite often. Maybe not always controller strikes. But the airport closes without any warning. We just go to MHLM when it happens since that is on our route anyway.

We fly a G-1 on a Fedex run there every day.

Just so I understand, the controllers turn off the light with aircraft on final. Is that right?

I think I might have heard u guys in a N1__PA or YN -__PA cool I would love to have a flying career like u do.:D damm what do u think about flying over there? besides those a$$holes from atc

I have been enroute twice when it has happened. When they leave, there is no advance notice nor do they put out a notam. I guess since they are striking, they want surprise on their side. We just always carry enough fuel to get to Honduras now because of the problem.

Yep thats the way those mother f...s do it but if u have that in mind u got the game in your hands and there is no surprise at the end, congrats on dealing with my dumm compatriots of mine but someday they will all be replaced for some guys that really want to be in there shoes and ppl that really like to do what they are doing..
