Emabassy Suites, nice place, but I dread the walk to the room.
To paraphrase Geogre Carlin, 'I'm not afraid of heights, I'm afraid of falling'.
Do you recall those old films/photos of those guys building skyscapers. Walking the beams. They recruited alot of Native Americans I believe, in the North East.

Add me to the list of afraid of heights. I don't do roller coasters or acro either. I've somewhat gotten used to the deicing bucket, but I try not to look down when I'm up really high, just focus on the task at hand.

Me too.

And here I thought I was just weird. I love flying and, while I respect it, I'm not afraid of it. But heights? Oh man. Terrified. We lost some shingles on the roof of our house recently from the wind; my wife didn't even ask. She knew better. She just climbed up there herself and repaired them.

The worst of all: ferris wheels. I mean, those darned skinny things could tip over at any moment.

No prob flying.....never has been an issue. Except for thoes days with a kicking headwind in a skyhawk during slow flight.....didnt quite like that.
Was up on the observation deck of the Empire State a few weeks ago.......CHECK PLEASE!

Ely Cathedral just outside of Cambridge was built eons ago on a swamp ! They laid down tons of Fleece and straw to sop up the muck then built a Cathedral on it, I went up the North tower many years ago, where it was said, and I confirmed, that the entire building is in constant sway, Fecal- matter propelling fear overcame me, I've been scared of heights in buildings ever since :-)

I have no problem flying, and am not afraid of heights, but I have this recurring dream of climbing very narrow stairs, very high up, with nothing on either side of them and being very scared of falling off.

Wish Dr. Freud was here!

Groundp,

I hear ya, Bro. I had one occasion to ride up in the bucket to look for frost on the top of an MD80 horizontal stab...I squeezed the fiberglass juice outta that thing !

DANGLERS...UP & LOCKED

The engine on the truck quit halfway up...we waved gently in the breeze...there was shouting...the engine was restarted...I got a sufficient look...and said, "..take me down...take me down...take me down..."

I'm not really afraid of heights. I am pretty claustrophobic though. Throw me in a C150 or say, a Seneca nose baggage compartment and I freak out. I try not to show my fears though because otherwise I can't get the ladies morning noon and night.

Hey man, it's goin good. I'm getting women morning noon and night, and I don't even have to try. They flock to me what can I say.

That goes for me too. I tried to hang Christmas lights on our house in Texas. By the time I was ten feet off the ground my knees were jelly. By the time I got to the top, I couldn't move my arms.

 Jesus! Never again.

Funny thing is, I had no trouble rappelling in the Army. I guess having a giant NCO barking at you distracts you from your other concerns.
