Is it my imagination, or do Airtran pilots seem to smack them DC9s down onto the runway really hard. I recently flew back to CAK from ATL and it was just the usual DC9-30 which happened to be full (read heavy?) and we landed on the north runway and maybe the runway is a little short and that's the reason the pilot wanted to get it down affirmatively?? Perhaps we were coming in a little bit fast due to the heavier weight? Somebody give me a few answers please. Did they recruit these guys from the Navy? (i.e., carrier landings)

So c'mon guys? Why do ya land em' so hard!?

Evidently, this guy bases his assertion on his one-flight experience in a DC-9 where the pilot got it down "affirmatively".
(Whatever that is.)

I would venture to say that there are very few pilots that give input on that site and the majority of people posting are plane spotters and "airline wannabees". They do, however, have some d@mn fine photography archived there.

I agree about the photography. They have arguably the best, most extensive collection of airliner photographs anywhere.

Most pilots that post seem to eventually get frustrated or bored and gravitate to more "pilot friendly" message boards. Like flightinfo.com

The photos on that site are the best on the web period but most of them are by "aviation buffs" who are not pilots, or at least not Part 121 pilots so their comments on the boards are lacking in knowledge. Still a top notch site I visit often for photos.
