REASONS WHY ORD ERJ WILL BE BETTER THAN SJU ATR

 • Closer to home (very short/easy commute).
 • $7/hr pay raise.
 • No more crashpad.
 • Longer overnights.
 • Better schedules.
 • Will no longer have to rely on a piss-poor public transportation system in order to make sign in on time.
 • No customs after every turn.
 • No having to go through security 3-4 times a day.
 • More food choices at all airports we fly into.
 • Won’t have to ride a bus to the airplane
 • Will be able to understand and take part in any and all crew room conversations.
 • Quieter crew room, even though there will be 7 times as many crew members.
 • Will be able to understand controllers
 • Will be dealing with controllers that know what they are doing (excluding SJU, STT, and STX)
 • ATIS at all airports that we fly into.
 • Accurate wind and weather reports (no more reports of wind at 10kts when it’s 20 gust 30. . . Dominican Republic)
 • Parallel taxiways at all airports.
 • To sum up ATC: The taxi and before takeoff checklists will no longer be interrupted by a hard to understand controller (who does not possess the mental aptitude to work with more than one aircraft at a time and is working ATIS, Ground, Tower, Approach, and Departure) giving us our taxi, IFR, and take-off clearance all while we are back-taxiing on an active runway. . . no more flying into St Kitts, St. Lucia or Antigua.
 • Radar contact everywhere.
 • Will no-longer have to shoot a full instrument approach in VMC for traffic separation. . . Antigua, St. Lucia, St. Kitts etc.
 • Will no longer have to say "radial and DME” every 30 seconds after getting cleared direct to a VOR. . . no more flying into Antigua.
 • No more reporting over a fix on an Airway and not more than 5 seconds later getting asked for our DME. . . Antigua
 • FMS in all aircraft
 • Altitude selector will have detents
 • APU
 • Jet bridges
 • Will no longer need an FA/translator when dealing with ground crew. . . Dominican Republic
 • Better ground crews and operations that will have reasoning/teamwork skills, initiative, common sense, and accountability. (no more flying into St. Kitts)
THINGS THAT WILL BE MISSED

1. Dominica, Bridge, and Beef visuals.
2. Seeing real airplanes flying on a daily basis (DC-3’s, 727’s, Beech 18’s)
3. Canouan visuals. . . 3400’ Rwy

Quieter crew room, even though there will be 7 times as many crew members.

That is just awesome. I bet though you are gonna miss more of your old base over time. It snows in chicago, and is freaken cold.

Yeah but the day after it snows it's usually 50 degrees or something. Gotta love midwest weather unpredictability, I'd go nuts if I couldn't experience 3 seasons in 2 days.

Ahh, good ol' SJU. I miss the ATR, miss partying in St. Croix/Thomas/Martin, and the cool coin I would have made if upgrades would have been lower than 4 years.

Altitude selector will have detents!!! --That I dont miss

-Dont forget to load up on the good Dominican Coffee
-The Price of Alcohol will blow your mind up here in the Upper 48. Nothing, I mean nothing in the US or Canada comes even close to Duty Free prices in SXM and SKB or the Employee discount in SJU.
-You might actually have to brief approaches now...no more "This airplane, That Runway; mas preguntas?"
-25 mile finals to a 2 mile long runway are fricken boring!!!! You actually have to try to do something stupid!
-Listening to guys who never flew down there talk about anything under 6000' as 'short runways' and thinking thats twice what you're used to on average.
I'd like a sand castle over a snowman anyday!

Ahh goods time had in SJU...I gotta get back to Lupi's

Welcome to ORD...Now don't stop!

AHHHHHHH

Sweet sweet Lupi's. Some of the best penicillan I ever had was because of that place.

But nothing says SJU like EL PRESEDENTE for a buck.

And what was the name of that open air pizza joint going toward old sanjuan.

"Ahh goods time had in SJU...I gotta get back to Lupi's"

Lupis is for Yankee fans because the owner was a stinkin' Yankee :angryfire

cheers

Pizza City...many drinken hours spent over there; post Lupi's or the casino

Dont Forget about the dollar Taco place right across the street.....for when you wanted to impress a tourist with your 'fine knowledge' of speaking Puerto Rican!!
