So Long to one of the SEXIEST airplanes ever built!

Sexy

Long, thin, with big "engines" and long legs..........I'll miss her too.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

I got the chance to be a passenger on one once. A great experience. A beautiful airplane.

Got to fly the beauty for about 6 mos ... a joy to fly, even for an old fighter pilot. A GREAT airplane.

Guess I'll have to object for the sake of a debate. I never could see where the 757 was that necessary. Obviously some thought it was, since Boeing built them and operators bought them.

Also, I am one who thinks there are amost no bad or ugly airplanes. Zenith (small experimental) is one that's close... but FEW are sexy. Sexy is F-4, P-51, P-38, F-86, B-17, Lancair (any), RV (tailwheel), Tiger Moth, J-3, Concorde, 747.

Sorry - the lanky, skinny-minny 75 doesn't make my cut. Adios.

It's not surprising given the capacity of a 737-800. Boeing had two of its airplanes competing against each other.

According to what I've heard from former co-workers, AA(and other carriers) use the 737-800 on transcon routes where they used to fly the 757. Passengers didn't care for the decision, and cabin crews hated it because of the lack of a mid-cabin lav.

AA also used the 757 across the North Atlantic...don't know if they still do. I understand they could only fly westbound with 60% passenger load, at best.

J-3 Sexy???? B-17 Sexy???? Please good sir, put the crack pipe down.;)
Yea, guess you're right. Kind of like a sexy grandma, eh?! ;)

They built the 757 as a modern replacement of the 727....who'd have thought the 106 seat 737 would evolve so much over the years...

Not necessary!?! The 75 can flat out perform better then anything else out there. Look at what AA and CAL do with the Rolls Royce equipped 75. They take that thing into some places way up there in rocks of Latin America and the thing handles it like a champ. Whoever said it before was right on, the 75 was built as a 727 replacement, but unfortunately its time has passed.

According to the article they do, the short and stalky looking 737. The 73 kinda reminds me of George Castanza.:D

OK, I know I should avoid doing the spelling police thing, but I'm gonna anyway. It's stocky. I was scratching my head, trying to figure out what you were talking about. "Stalky" is almost the exact opposite of "stocky". What ARE they teaching the kids in school these days? along those same lines, and relating to the topic of the thread, I had a friend who was an engineer working on the 757. I recall getting letters (back before e-mail) describing working on some ofh the structural testing....now they're ending hte production run....does this mean I'm old?

Only if my following the development of the F-14 doesn't make me old. You know they're putting F-18's in the desert already?! time sure flies when your having fun...

A quick question, and please forgive my ignorance ...

The 75 can't do NY to London/Paris/Frankfurt with a full load? Even the later ER versions?

I ask because I thought I'd flown one across the Atlantic once, a long time ago. So what do most airlines use ... 76?

Just curious ...

Minh

Oh ... and my vote goes to the 75 being a VERY sexy beast. I always thought that just before touchdown they looked like a giant bird of prey about to 'grab' the runway.
