I'm not sure why they made a movie out of it. TLC, Discovery channel and everybody else has done a recreation and very good ones at that.

It's been hashed, hashed and rehashed by news channels.

Is there a twist that they are throwing in that I don't know about

I disagree. I think 9-11 needs to be thrown in the face of many Americans. Too many have forgotten already, especially those outside of NY and DC.

It's not really throwing it in the face of anyone if you require them to become aware of the movie, travel to a movie theatre, and then pay $10 a seat to view the film in a semi-private setting. I suspect this movie will do mediocre in the theatre and then quickly transit to DVD. I can't imagine the family of four travelling to see Flight 93, that said I would love to see the market research for the film. I would have certainly gone to see it if I hadn't already seen several other docu-dramas that I believe are well done.

Generally speaking, what happened on Sept 11th has been compared to Pearl Harbor.

The legacies of the people on Flight 93 have begun the process of being inducted into the American collective identity.

And what's more American than making a movie about it? How about making money from it?

I guarantee you, the producers wouldn't have made this movie if they didn't think they could make a profit.

FEDS IGNORED FLIGHT SCHOOL'S 9/11 ALERT

March 23, 2006 -- ALEXANDRIA, Va. - The manager of the Arizona flight school that trained the 9/11 hijacker who crashed into the Pentagon testified yesterday that she called the Federal Aviation Administration with concerns over his qualifications for a pilot's license - but was dismissed by an FAA official.

Margaret Chevrette made the claim at the death-penalty trial of Zacarias Moussaoui, a confessed al Qaeda terrorist.

It was the second time this week jurors heard that federal officials responded either slowly or not at all to warnings about terror.

Chevrette said that the student, Hani Hanjour, lacked adequate English skills to gain his pilot's license. An FAA official responded to her concerns by suggesting that Hanjour could use an interpreter - even though mastery of English is a requirement for a pilot.

Chevrette said that when she heard about the 9/11 attacks, she knew Hanjour must have been involved.

"I remember crying all the way to work, knowing our company helped to do this," she said.

Prosecutors in Moussaoui's trial were presenting testimony about the hijackers' training to show parallels between Moussaoui's flight training and that of other hijackers.

Still in service since pre-9-11, and post 9-11 happen to have a part in homeland defense...no t-shirt though. Ask a WWII vet if they've forgotten about Pearl Harbor or how the Japs treated our POW's back then...60+ years and they haven't forgotten...and I respect them for it!

Oh--don't take it the wrong way. I have the UTMOST respect for all our servicemen and women, as well as the pax on FLT 93. I just think that the documentary on TLC or Discovery was enough. I don't think their families need a movie about it--especially so that the writers, producers, directors, and actors can make millions off of the losses incurred in that incident. What I meant was that I think it's disrespectful to make a movie out of it after all the attention it's already gotten. Just someone else out to make a buck.

I'm not going to see it either. I was working at EWR at that time, and i can remember my wife waking me up that morning to those images on tv. Then getting back into work 3 days later, standing on the ramp and looking out at the smoke still billowing up from ground zero left me sad and wondering. Ewr was a ghost town.. nothing flying, no one moving except for a Canadair jet loading up under heavy scrutiny.. why rub salt in wounds that i'm sure for many will never heal?

Keep in mind secondary screening can be based on available intelligene data including the use of children with surgically implanted IEDs. Kinda like smuggling coke in canines, but with a little more zeal.

Although I'm not in the military, those family members of mine who've seen combat have desired nothing more than to forget what they saw and move on. My great-grandfather dropped into Normandy with the 101st and spent time as a POW. He suffered horrific PTSD following the war and became an alcoholic. Couldn't get the images out of his head he used to say. He died of a heart attack in 1980.

In social psych back in college we learned about the "cycle of violence" in that violence leads to frustration, which again leads to violence, which again leads to frustration and so on and so on. I guess this is why I can't watch any of the videos from 9/11 anymore. Just my 2-cents.

I literally just watched the full trailer on iTunes.

Not sure how accurate it all was, but I got cold chills when the pilots got an ACARS message saying "two planes just hit World Trade Center". A good friend's cousin was an FA on one of the American flights. She was picking up a little opentime trying to make some extra cash...I never saw the A & E movie (or whoever made it), so I might go see this one. Its definately not going to be an uplifting film but it will put a personal face on the people who lost their lives.

People have forgotten the WTC bombing in 1991, Khobar Towers, our embassies being blown up in Africa and the USS Cole. We as a society cannot forget what happened that day, simply burying and repressing the feelings of fear, anger and sadness we felt during and afterward and dreaming of a better tomorrow. Am I angry about what happened? You're damn right I am...but that doesn't keep me from living my life normally.

FWIW, I've tried joining the military three times since 9/11. I've been medically hard DQ'd...

Why "illegal immigration" and "civil liberties" being taken away currently all had NOTHING to do with 9-11. The terrorists were here on legal visas (the CIA didnt bother to double check when certifying the visas even though numerous 9-11 attackers were on known terrorists lists) and other countless examples.

Universal Studios is probably going to make millions off this movie, which should give any American pause about those eight bucks they are going to slide across the counter.
Universal shouldn't stop with this- they should look into selling Shuttle Columbia charcoal starters, or New Orleans-theme pool toys. Making money off a national tragedy is just simple economics, isn't it?

I won't be seeing this movie. Not because it is too disturbing, but because making this movie a for-profit venture is beyond appalling.

I have no intention of going to see this movie either. I had the pleasure (if you can call it that) of watching the real thing happen live on TV while wearing a pilot's uniform and fearing not only for my own life but for my 7 co-workers who were in flight while it all went down.

In my personal opinion, Osama has indeed won and he's gotten exactly what he wanted. He's made all of us Americans scared to death, he's got us fighting amongst ourselves to the point of absurdity, and he's made us all look like complete idiots to the rest of the world. I'll bet he's sitting in his hidey-hole watching CNN and laughing his arse off.
